Shakespeare's Schoolroom & Guildhall is a new visitor attraction in the heart of Stratford-upon-Avon. Here your class can discover the very classroom where William Shakespeare was educated and inspired to become the worlds' greatest playwright. Immerse your class in 16th century Stratford and participate in a Tudor Schoolroom lesson and even brush up on your Latin!
Bookings for this combination visit can be made Monday-Friday, term time, at 11am and 1pm. Please specify at the time of booking which attraction your class would like to visit first.
Tours at both the Butterfly Farm and Shakespeare's Schoolroom are guided and last approximately 1 hour.
There is coach drop off and pick up outside the Indigo Hotel opposite Shakespeare’s Schoolroom & Guildhall and at the entrance gates of the Butterfly Farm.
There is only a single toilet (it is accessable for those that require it) at the Schoolroom. Schools are recommend to visit the nearby town facilities in Bell Court before or after their visit or the facilities at the Butterfly Farm.
It is an approx. 10 minute walk between the two venues through the Bankcroft Gardens using the pedestrian bridge.

The MAD Museum
The Mechanical Art & Design Museum, or 'MAD Museum', opened in 2012 and is the UK's only permanent venue for mechanical art. There are around 70 pieces of mechanical art on display, specifically called Kinetic Art and Automata. Think Heath Robinson mixed with Wallace and Gromit and Scrapheap Challenge. These hands-on exhibits display creative inventiveness, clever design and physics principals that will inspire your class, with plenty of ideas from both venues to take back to the classroom.

Both tours last approximately 1 hour. The Butterfly Farm Tour is guided, the Mad Museum Tour is self-guided.

The Butterfly Farm has been working with our neighbour, Avon Boating, for many years. We offer a 45 Minute River Cruise for visiting schools to complement their visit to the Butterfly Farm. It has a famous fleet of beautifully restored Edwardian vessels, one of which will take your class on a leisurely cruise along the picturesque River Avon.
