The Christmas Butterfly, Papilio demodocus, once again graces us with its presence, it has striking black and yellow hues with little baubles of colour on their wings. Native to Africa, with a wingspan of 9–11cm, it's also known as the 'Citrus Swallowtail.'
Joining the festive lineup is the Hercules Beetle, a colossal Rhinoceros Beetle hailing from Central and South American rainforests, and coastal regions of North Carolina. Some males reach an impressive 18cm in length, earning them the title of one of the largest beetles and the strongest creatures on Earth for their size.
From December 27 to January 7, don't miss the daily Butterfly Lifecycle, Mini-Beast, Beetle, and Pupae Demonstrations at 11 am in the Discovery Zone. Explore the incredible stages of the butterfly life cycle and get hands-on with Stick Insects.
