Celebrating 100 Years of Sir David Attenborough
To honour this remarkable milestone and Sir David’s lifelong dedication to the natural world, the Butterfly Farm will host a unique and memorable event.
Two classes from local schools, Stratford-upon-Avon Primary and Thomas Jolyffe Primary, have been invited to take part in the release of 100 stunning Blue Morpho butterflies into the rainforest Flight Area.
This symbolic moment celebrates not only Sir David’s extraordinary legacy, but also aims to inspire the next generation to cherish and protect the beauty of nature.
The celebration will also be attended by the Mayor of Stratford-upon-Avon, Dani Hunter, along with Stratford-upon-Avon MP Manuela Perteghella and her Chief of Staff, Jennifer Gray.
Sir David, who has previously visited the Butterfly Farm, has long been an inspiration to the team and to millions around the world through his passion for wildlife and conservation.
The morning event will give children the chance to experience the wonder of butterflies up close, creating a fitting tribute to a man who has spent decades bringing the natural world into our homes and hearts.
Clive Farrell, Lord of the Butterflies
Adding to the significance of the occasion, Butterfly Farm owner Clive Farrell will also be celebrating his birthday the following day. Clive’s passion and expertise have helped establish the Butterfly Farm as one of the UK’s leading attractions for tropical butterfly conservation and education.
Clive Farrell commented:“Sir David Attenborough has inspired generations to care deeply about wildlife and the environment. It is a real privilege to celebrate his 100th birthday here at the Butterfly Farm, especially as he has visited us in the past. His 1983 ‘Wildlife on One: A Touch of the Butterflies’ led to queues forming at my London Butterfly House following its broadcast. To share this moment with young people makes it even more special, as they are the future custodians of our planet.”
