Big Butterfly Count!
Help Butterfly Conservation take nature's pulse by taking part in the Big Butterfly Count, 17 July – 9 August 2026.
The Big Butterfly Count is a UK-wide survey aimed at helping Butterfly Conservation assess the health of our environment simply by counting the amount and type of butterflies and some day-flying moths that we see.
How Do I Take Part?
Head over to the Big Butterfly Count website
- Download their butterfly ID chart or free app for iOS and Android to identify and record the butterflies you spot.
- Between Friday 17 July and Sunday 9 August choose a place to spot butterflies and moths. Watch for 15 minutes.
- Record and add your counts here on the website or via the app. You can look on the fascinating interactive map to see how your data is contributing to conservation science and research.
