Minibeast Metropolis houses one of the largest insect collections in the Uk. It is also home to our snakes, reptiles, amphibians and other invertebrates.
Discover the fascinating connection that Stratford-upon-Avon Butterfly Farm has to the rainforests of Belize and the ancient Maya civilisation (Maya, pronounced My-a). Their artefacts have been replicated and are on display throughout the Butterfly Farm. Many of the beautiful butterflies you see at our butterfly farm are supplied by the Fallen Stones Butterfly Farm in the Maya Mountains of Belize. This area, where both the ancient Maya and the present-day Maya come from, is just the right environment for the plants that are required for tropical butterflies to feed and breed upon. Most of the people who work at the Fallen Stones Farm are Kekchi Maya. It is named after the Late Classic (AD 600-900) Maya site of Lubaantun (the place of the fallen stones), which is right on its doorstep.
The gift shop offers a wide and colourful array of nature inspired gifts for all ages and has a range of chilled drinks, ice-creams and confectionary.
For many years Stratford-upon-Avon Butterfly farm is proud to have been awarded a place in the Tourist Attraction category for Stratford in Bloom, the most recent being Highly Commended in 2016. Our stunning wildflower meadow of constantly changing colours really impressed our visitors and judges of the local competition. From June to October the front garden of the Butterfly Farm is awash with a myriad of different coloured wild flowers, every week is different! More importantly they are in the top 10 of nectar plants, perfect to attract UK butterflies into the garden. Why not download our gardening for butterflies leaflet and plan your very own butterfly garden.
